Origin and history

The Dolmen de Pajot, located in Limogne-en-Quercy in the Lot, is a megalithic monument dated to the Neolithic. This type of construction, characteristic of this period, was generally used as a collective burial. Its architecture, composed of large erect stones, reflects the techniques and beliefs of local prehistoric societies.

Ranked Historical Monument by decree of 6 March 1959, the dolmen of Pajot is protected for its archaeological importance. Dolmens, widespread in Europe, were often places of worship or memory for neolithic communities. Their presence in the Quercy illustrates the ancient occupation of this territory and its role in the cultural exchanges of the time.

The location of the dolmen, at the approximate address of 102 Rue du Mas de Rolland, is known with an accuracy considered fair (level 5/10). This monument, although little documented in the available sources, remains a tangible testimony to the prehistoric heritage of Occitanie. His study contributes to the understanding of Neolithic lifestyles and funeral rituals in southwestern France.
