Dolmen (Case F 376): entry by order of 19 May 1969
Origin and history
The dolmen of Kervingu is an emblematic megalithic vestige of the Neolithic period, located in the commune of Pluneret, in the department of Morbihan. This monument, typical of the funeral architecture of the period, bears witness to the cultural and religious practices of prehistoric societies in Brittany. Its inscription as a historical monument by decree of 19 May 1969 underlines its heritage and archaeological importance.
The Breton region, during the Neolithic period, was marked by a gradual sedentarization of populations, which developed agricultural and livestock activities. Dolmens, like Kervingu's, served primarily as collective burials and played a central role in the social and spiritual organization of communities. These megalithic structures reflect an advanced mastery of construction techniques and a symbolic vision of death and the afterlife.
According to available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, the Kervingu dolmen is located precisely at 15 Route de Kervingu, 56400 Pluneret. Its conservation status and geographical location, noted as 'very satisfactory' (note 8/10), make it an accessible and studied site. The 1969 protection order specifically covers the dolmen, identified under cadastral reference F 376, thus guaranteeing its preservation for future generations.
