Origin and history
The estate of the Blossière is an architectural complex located in Bourg-des-Comptes, in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany. This monument, recently listed in the Inventory of Historic Monuments by decree of 29 November 2023, includes a house, communes, as well as a vast park spread over several cadastral plots. Its inscription covers all these elements, highlighting their heritage value and historical consistency.
In the Breton region, areas such as Blossière often played a central role in local social and economic organization. In modern and contemporary times, these ensembles brought together residential, agricultural and sometimes craft functions. Their preservation makes it possible today to understand the lifestyles, social hierarchies and dominant activities (agriculture, livestock, or trade) that structured the Breton countryside.
This type of monument illustrates the evolution of rural landscapes and relations between landowners and peasant communities.
