Origin and history
The estate of Rogeant, located in the commune of Teufeles (Somme, Hauts-de-France), is a historical monument whose protected elements include the facades and roofs of the castle, a reinforced concrete staircase, and a remarkable chapel with its trompe-l'oeil altarpiece. The site, registered by decree of 5 August 2020, also includes a landscape park and technical installations such as a tank and a feed mechanism by animal traction, reflecting innovations of its time.
The architect Émile Ricquier is associated with this area, although the details of its construction or its historical evolution are not specified in the available sources. The castle, partially open to uses such as the rental of rooms or guest rooms, illustrates the local architecture and the technical adaptations of the early twentieth century, typical of bourgeois or seigneurial residences of the region.
The location of the domain, at 8 Route de Gamaches, is documented with an accuracy deemed "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10). The site is part of a rural environment in Hauts-de-France, where castles and estates of this type often played a central role in the social and economic organization of the surrounding communes, serving as places of power, agricultural production or residences for local elites.
The legal protections cover a variety of elements, ranging from architectural structures (stairs, chapel) to technical devices (animal pump, acetylene reserve), highlighting the variety of functions of the domain. These features bear witness to this both artistic, technical and historical aspect of Picardia, which is now integrated into the Hauts-de-France region.
The absence of precise dates on the construction or major transformations of the domain limits the reconstruction of its history. However, its recent inscription (2020) attests to its heritage value and the desire to preserve a coherent set, combining architecture, landscape and mechanical innovations, representative of regional heritage.
