Origin and history

The Parc du Domaine de Sandricourt, built between 1880 and 1900 by Henri and Achille Duchêne, extends over the communes of Amblainville and Méru, in the Oise (Hauts-de-France). This landscaped garden, emblematic of the late 19th century, is distinguished by its walkway of the Marquise, more than 4 km long, classified historical monument since 1991.

The Marquise aisle, Diane's grand parterre, the cascade of flowers and the round clearing were inscribed by ministerial decree in 1991. In 1908, the estate was acquired by Robert Walton Goelet, marking a milestone in his history. The Duchêne, father and son, left here a major work of garden art.

The estate illustrates the know-how of landscape architects of the time, mixing monumental perspectives and decorative elements. Its designation as historic monuments underscores its heritage value, both for its layout and for its plant compositions.
