Origin and history

Concoules is a former village located in the commune of Lesperon, in the department of Ardèche, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This place is known locally for its annual festivities of 18 June, commemorating the call of General Charles de Gaulle. Although the village is today a distance from Lesperon, its architectural heritage bears witness to an older history, marked by elements still visible as a tower and remains of a church.

The facades, roofs and chimneys of the tower, as well as the remains of the church, were inscribed as historical monuments by order of 4 November 1982. This protection applies specifically to the elements of the first and third floors of the tower, as well as the remains of the religious building, located on cadastre BE 107 and 110. These inscriptions highlight the heritage importance of the site, although available sources do not specify the exact construction period or detailed history of the village.

The village of Concoules is part of a rural ardèche, where small hamlets and gaps have often played a central role in community life. Monuments such as the tower and the church traditionally served as points of assembly, defense or worship, reflecting the social and religious organization of local people. Today, Concloules remains a place of memory, associated with local celebrations and the preservation of regional historical heritage.
