Origin and history

The Drouillat farm, located in Peyrelevade en Corrèze, is a typical example of the so-called "block to land" farms of high Corrèze. Built in the 19th century, it is distinguished by its spatial organization: the house and the stables are aligned in the main facade, while the barn-stable, located at the rear, opens onto an elevated floor. The openings, such as the entrance door and windows, are decorated with vegetal and geometric sculptures, adding an artistic dimension to this utility construction.

The main house was erected in 1840 by a mason auvergnat for Jean-Baptiste Roudeix, as evidenced by the inscription engraved on the facade. Originally, the roof was covered with stubble, but later replaced with slates. A fire around 1860 partially destroyed the interior and barn-stable, resulting in a partial reconstruction of the house. Despite these modifications, the farm retains remarkable architectural elements, such as frames of carved bays, which reflect the artisanal know-how of the time.

Classified Historic Monument by decree of 16 April 1992, Drouillat's farm illustrates the 19th century Correzian rural heritage. Its functional design and decorative details make it a valuable testimony to the lifestyles and construction techniques of this region. The approximate location and the available data underline its importance in the local architectural landscape, despite limited geographical accuracy (level 5/10).
