Origin and history
The Eburomagus Archaeological Museum in Bram presents collections from excavations in the Lauragais, illustrating the evolution of human occupation in the west of the Aude. The objects exhibited, ranging from prehistory to the Middle Ages, reflect daily life and local exchanges. These artifacts include the Bram vicus and potter shops in the area, as well as Wisigothic sites such as Montferrand.
In 2000, the municipality of Bram built a dedicated building to accommodate these collections, previously preserved in Castelnaudary. The museum opened in 2006 with a permanent exhibition focusing on the most emblematic pieces. He obtained the label Musée de France in 2012, consolidating his heritage and scientific vocation.
Today, Eburomagus has several functions: labeled museum, state archaeological depot, intercommunal tourist branch and headquarters of an association dedicated to archaeology. This multifunctionality makes it a key player in preserving and valuing local heritage, while serving as a forum for mediation between researchers and the general public.
