Origin and history
The Écomusée du Marais Breton vendéen, officially named "Le Daviaud", is a French ecomuseum inaugurated in 1982 at La Barre-de-Monts, in the Pays de la Loire. This site aims to enhance the natural and historical heritage of the marsh, highlighting its evolution, its traditional know-how and its unique ecosystem. It covers 75 hectares of natural space, offering immersion in a land shaped by man and the sea.
The ecomuseum route is divided into 7 thematic spaces, illustrating the functioning of the marsh and its history. The gallery "Le Marais et les hommes" presents testimonies of inhabitants, while an outdoor path allows you to discover the local fauna and flora. This open-air museum highlights the typical architecture of the Breton-Folden Marais as well as ancestral maraichin techniques.
Between April and September, activities are organized to revive the traditional trades and techniques of the marsh. These demonstrations complete the visit by offering an immersive and educational experience. The ecomuseum is thus a place for transmitting knowledge about an environment that is both fragile and rich in history.
Basse saison : Du 12 mai au 2 juillet 2017 : mardi au vendredi 10h à 18h30, samedi et dimanche 14h à 18h30, 1er dimanche de mois : restauration de 12h à 14h (fermé le lundi).
Haute saison : Du 3 juillet au 3 septembre 2017 : tous les jours 10h à 19h, sauf samedi 14h à 18h30
