Abside: registration by order of 17 July 1926
Origin and history
The church of Solerieux is a religious monument located in the municipality of the same name, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (formerly Rhône-Alpes). Its origins date back to the 12th century, with significant changes in the 16th century, reflecting two distinct architectural periods: Roman art for its medieval foundations, and Renaissance influences for its subsequent additions. The building is now recognized as a Historic Monument, an official protection emphasizing its heritage importance.
Among the outstanding elements of the church, the abside has been registered as a Historical Monument since 17 July 1926, by ministerial decree. This architectural element, often central in Romanesque churches, illustrates the construction techniques and aesthetic choices of the period. The property of the building belongs to the municipality of Solérieux, which implies local management of its maintenance and valuation.
The location of the church, specified as 1 Church Square in Solothurn (code INSEE 26342), places the monument in the heart of the village. Although sources mention a poor location accuracy (note 5/10), its administrative address and GPS coordinates allow it to be located in the Drôme department, rounded off Valencia. No information is available about its current accessibility (visits, events, or contemporary uses such as guest rooms).
Available data from Monumentum and Merimée are limited to historical and administrative aspects. No mention is made of sponsors, artisans, or significant events related to the church outside its protection in 1926. Its history thus remains partially documented, inviting further research to fully grasp its past.
