Origin and history

The church of Saint-Maurice de Blandy, located in the Essonne department in Île-de-France, is a Catholic religious building whose foundation probably dates back to an ancient era. The present church, dedicated to Saint Maurice, dates from the 12th or 13th century. It was consecrated on 19 August 1582 by the Archbishop of Sens, thus marking its importance in local religious history. Its architecture and parish role bear witness to the medieval heritage of the region.

The church was listed as historic monuments by an order of 6 March 1926, recognizing its heritage value. In the early 1980s, the building had major structural disorders, requiring consolidation. A complete restoration was carried out in 1996 to preserve this emblematic monument. The church houses a 17th century baroque high altar, adding to its artistic richness.

Saint-Maurice Church is now an active place of worship and a key element of Blandy's heritage. Its protection and successive restorations illustrate the attachment of the inhabitants and institutions to the preservation of this monument. Available sources, such as Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm its communal ownership status and its openness to the public, although details of the visits are not specified.
