Origin and history
The church and the presbytery of Nalliers constitute an architectural complex marked by two distinct periods. The church, built in the 15th century, reflects the stylistic characteristics of the late Middle Ages, with a structure probably influenced by late Gothic art. This type of building then played a central role in the religious and social life of villages, serving as a place of worship, a community gathering and sometimes a refuge during times of unrest.
The presbytery, for its part, was built in the 18th century, a time when religious architecture evolved towards more classical and rational forms, in harmony with the ideas of the Enlightenment. This time lag between the two buildings illustrates the evolution of aesthetic needs and tastes over nearly three centuries. The whole was included in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 7 June 1993, thus protecting its facades, roofs and structural elements.
Located in the department of Vienna (New Aquitaine region), this monument is now owned by the commune of Nalliers. Its exact address, 5097 A Rue de la Chapelle, and its Insee code (86175) confirm its anchoring in Poitevin territory. The GPS location, although considered "passable" (note 5/10), allows to identify the site in a rural environment, typical of the small towns of the region.
The protected elements specifically include the church (cadastre AB 99) and the facades/roofs of the presbytery (cadastre AB 100), highlighting the heritage importance of their conservation. No information is available on opening up to the public, current uses (rents, visits) or possible tourist developments. The sources mentioned (Monumentum, Merimée base) provide administrative and historical data, but little details about the daily life associated with this monument.
