Origin and history
Notre-Dame d'Ychoux Church is a Catholic church in the Landes department of New Aquitaine. In Gothic style, it dates from the 16th century and was built in the village of Ychoux. This monument underwent several phases of restoration during the 19th century, reflecting its importance to the local community.
In 1862, the church was enlarged by the addition of a south collateral and a bedside, while an arrow was added to the top of the old tower. These changes marked an important step in its architectural evolution, adapting the building to the liturgical and aesthetic needs of the time.
The paintings of the choir, made in 1920 by Jean Henri Tayan, a painter from Mont-de-Marsan, as well as the other paintings made in 1921 by Leduc, a Bordeaux artist, enriched the church's artistic heritage. These works bear witness to the attention paid to the beautification of the building at the beginning of the twentieth century.
