Church: registration by decree of 17 June 1954

Origin and history

The church Notre-Dame de Houetteville is a religious building located in the commune of Houetteville, Normandy. Its origins date back to the twelfth century, but it underwent major transformations in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, reflecting the architectural evolutions and liturgical needs of each era. The monument, still standing today, bears witness to the sustainability of medieval buildings adapted to the following centuries.

Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 17 June 1954, the church is officially protected for its heritage interest. The Mérimée sheet specifies that it is the property of the municipality and locates the site at 1 Bis Route de Louviers, in the department of Eure (27). Although sources do not detail its current use, its protected status suggests a recognized cultural and historical value.

The available data, from Monumentum and the Merimée archives, underline its inscription as historical monuments, but do not provide information on any significant figures or events related to its construction. The location, noted as satisfactory a priori (level 6/10), allows to identify the monument in the Normandy rural landscape, without further precision on its state or architectural peculiarities.
