Church (cad. A 926): inscription by decree of 20 July 1964
Origin and history
The Notre-Dame-en-sa-Nativity church in Outremecourt is a 17th-century religious building. Located in the commune of Outremécourt, it is representative of the ecclesiastical architecture of this period in Champagne-Ardenne, a region now integrated with the Great East. Its inscription as a Historic Monument by decree of 20 July 1964 bears witness to its heritage importance.
The location of the church, at 49 Rue de la Grande Cour, is documented in the Merimée base, with a precision deemed satisfactory a priori. The building, owned by the municipality, is identified under cadastre A 926. Although its current state of openness to the public is not specified, its historical role in local life remains significant, particularly as a place of worship and community gathering.
The Haute-Marne region in the 17th century was marked by a rural and artisanal economy, where churches played a central role in the social and spiritual structure of villages. These buildings served not only as places of prayer, but also as landmarks for the inhabitants, often reflecting the architectural and artistic influences of their time.
