Origin and history
Notre-Dame-et-Saint-André de Ferney-Voltaire Church is a Catholic religious building built between 1825 and 1826. It replaced the former church of St Andrew, in response to the building of a Protestant temple in 1824. In a neo-classical style, it follows a basilical plan and is dedicated to Notre-Dame de l'Assumption and Saint Andrew.
Located in the centre of the commune, at the corner of the Grand'Rue and the rue de l'Église, it occupies a central place in the urban landscape. Its architecture reflects the stylistic influences of the time, mixing religious tradition and modernity of the early 19th century.
Listed as historical monuments on 26 April 1988, the church is the subject of guided tours during the summer season. This ranking underscores its heritage importance and its role in local history, particularly in the context of relations between Catholic and Protestant communities in the 19th century.
