Church: by decree of 11 December 1912
Origin and history
The church of Thourotte is a religious monument located in the municipality of the same name, in the department of Oise (60), in the Hauts-de-France region. Built mainly in the 12th and 16th centuries, it illustrates the architectural transitions between the medieval and Renaissance periods. Its classification as a Historic Monument by decree of 11 December 1912 bears witness to its heritage value recognized by the French State.
The building now belongs to the commune of Thourotte, although its state of conservation and its accessibility to the public are not specified in the available sources. The churches of that time in Picardie (now Hauts-de-France) played a central role in community life, serving both as places of worship, social gathering and sometimes as refuge. In the 12th century, the region was marked by a rural and artisanal economy, while in the 16th century, the influences of the Renaissance were felt in religious architecture, with additions or modifications reflecting stylistic developments.
The location of Thurotte, near the Oise River, also suggested river and commercial activity, although these aspects are not directly related to the history of the church itself.
