Origin and history
The church of Notre-Dame-et-Sainte-Marguerite, located in the city centre of Élincourt-Sainte-Marguerite (Oise, Hauts-de-France), is a Catholic parish church built in 1127. Originally, it had only one nave, arched in wooden in the shape of a cradle, illuminated only by the windows of the choir and portal. This place of worship preserves a commemorative plaque recalling that Jeanne d'Arc prayed there in 1430, a landmark event in her history.
The relics of Saint Marguerite, saved from the ruin of an ancient church by the inhabitants, were transferred there. The choir, classified as a historical monument since October 22, 1913, bears witness to its architectural and spiritual importance. The entire building was inscribed in 2025, and a 1680 painting depicting Saint Marguerite, registered since 2008, enriches its artistic heritage.
Owned by the commune, the church is also distinguished by its connection to the medieval and religious history of Picardia. Its exact location, 2 Rue de l'Abbaye, and its Insee code (60206) confirm its territorial anchoring in the Oise department, near Beauvais. The accuracy of its location is considered satisfactory (level 7/10).
