Origin and history

The church Saint-Alban de Chemaudin, located in the Doubs department in Chemaudin and Vaux, dates from the second quarter of the eighteenth century. It is distinguished by its typical architecture, including its bell tower topped by a franco-comtoise cupola covered with zinc, which itself has a cross and a cock. This monument, inscribed in historical monuments since January 19, 1993, belongs to the parish of the Pays de Franois, attached to the diocese of Besançon. Its furniture, including retables, paintings and statues of the eighteenth century, has also been protected since 2003.

The church houses several classified furniture elements, such as the painting Notre-Dame de la Consolation, as well as retables and statues dedicated to Saint Paul, Saint-Claude, Saint-François-Xavier and the Rosary, all dating back to the 18th century. These works illustrate the artistic and religious importance of the place. The building, owned by the municipality, is accessible via line 58 of the Ginko network, at Village stop.

The church structure, with its characteristic dome, reflects the architectural traditions of Franche-Comté. Its inscription as a historic monument highlights its heritage value, both for its architecture and for its furniture.
