Origin and history
The church Saint-André, located in Prades in the Haute-Loire department, is a religious building of Romanesque architecture built between the 12th and 13th centuries. It is distinguished by a five-sided apse and an entrance door framed with two columns with capitals. Its size device, different between the choir and the naves, suggests two distinct construction phases.
Classified as historical monuments by order of 4 May 1910, this church belongs to the municipality of Prades. Its Romanesque style, typical of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, reflects the importance of religious buildings in the social and spiritual organization of medieval villages. The churches of that period served not only as places of worship, but also as gathering points for local communities.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight its status as a Historical Monument and its precise location in the municipality of Prades, marked by the Insee 43155 code. The building, still a communal property, bears witness to the architectural and religious heritage of the Haute-Loire, now integrated into the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
