Origin and history
The church of Saint-Brice de Villotte-devant-Louppy is a religious building located in the department of Meuse, in the Grand Est region. It is part of the parish of Saint-Jacques-de-l'Aire in the diocese of Verdun. Its architecture reflects two major periods of construction: the 12th and 15th centuries, with flamboyant elements visible in the choir and transept.
The church was erected in several countrysides, and depended on a priory in the 13th century. In 1847, a bell tower was added, but it was damaged with the roof during the First World War. On April 17, 1918, the building was partially classified as Historic Monuments, covering the choir, transept and apse.
The chorus and transept, flamboyant in style, are pierced with ogival windows. The north transept wall is built of torchi and oak beams. Inside, certain elements of furniture, such as veils, a conopée and a statue of Saint John the Baptist, are protected as objects of historical monuments.
