Origin and history

Saint Charles de Saint-Charles de Percy Church is a Catholic religious building built in Calvados, Normandy, during the last quarter of the eighteenth century. It is distinguished by its Latin cross plan, topped by an imperial roof tower and rectangular bays. Inside, the choir and transept are decorated with a stucco rock decoration, typical of 18th century art.

Charles-François Marie, seigneur of Percy, who in 1778 obtained permission from the bishop of Bayeux to create an independent parish by dismembering a quarter of Montchamp's parish. The lord had the church and its cemetery built near its castle, with a sacristy still keeping its original woodwork. In the 19th century, foothills were added to strengthen the structure.

The walls bearing the stucco decoration of the choir and transept were classified as historical monuments on 13 October 1958, while the rest of the building was inscribed on 18 August 2006. Today, the church belongs to the commune and remains an architectural and historical testimony of the region, integrated since 2016 in the new municipality of Valdallière.
