Origin and history

The church Saint-Clément de Vionville, located in the Moselle department, originally belonged to Gorze Abbey. Its choir tower, early Gothic style with a semicircular apse, was built in the early thirteenth century. It has a vaulted bay in its basement and dome windows on the upper floor, characteristic of this era.

The tower was raised in the Baroque era, receiving a curved roof surmounted by a lantern. The nave, on the other hand, was built in the 19th century, marking a more recent architectural evolution. This mix of styles reflects the different periods of construction and renovation of the building.

The church choir and bell tower were classified as historical monuments by decree of 21 May 1898, highlighting their heritage importance. Today, the church remains a major architectural and historical testimony of the region, linked to the religious and cultural history of the Moselle.
