Saint Colomban Church of Treveneuc

    2 Rue des Eruitys
    22410 Tréveneuc

Origin and history

The church Saint-Colomban de Tréveneuc is a religious monument located in the municipality of Tréveneuc, Brittany. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify the period of its construction or the circumstances of its construction. His name refers to St.Columban, a major figure of Celtic Christianity, but there is no document confirming a direct historical link between this saint and the building.

Parish churches such as Tréveneuc played a central role in the lives of Breton communities. They served not only as a place of worship, but also as a gathering point for social and administrative events. In Brittany, these buildings often reflect architecture influenced by local traditions and available materials, such as granite.

Their presence attests to the importance of the Christian faith in the organization of villages since the Middle Ages.
