Origin and history

The church of Saint-Crépin-et-Saint-Crépinien de Chaussy is a religious building located in the commune of Chaussy, in the department of Val-d'Oise (95), in the Île-de-France region. This monument, whose location is estimated as fair (level 5/10), is identified in the Merimée base under the Insee 95150 code. It has been protected since 1927 by an inscription under the title of Historic Monuments, covering the entire building.

Medieval and post-medieval churches in Île-de-France played a central role in community life, serving as a place of worship, assembly and identity marker for villages. In Chaussy, as in many rural communities, the church was a focal point around which social, religious and sometimes economic activities were organized. These buildings often reflected the architectural evolution and cultural influences of their time, while embodying local piety and traditions.
