Saint Edmond de la Ronde-Couture Church dans les Ardennes

Saint Edmond de la Ronde-Couture Church

    7 Avenue Andre Lebon
    08000 Charleville-Mézières

Origin and history

Église Saint-Edmond is located in the Ronde-Couture district of Charleville-Mézières, in the Ardennes department. It is part of a larger complex, with the peculiarity of being installed upstairs. This place of worship is distinguished by its integration into a modern structure, contrasting with traditional churches.

The nave and choir, facing south, form a unique square plane space. The ground floor, built of reinforced concrete, leaves visible the footprints of the formwork, while the floor is built of concrete parpaing. Rectangular bays pierce the upper part of the walls, bringing natural light inside. The sacristy is located in the left corner of the choir.

On the religious level, the Saint-Edmond church is attached to Saint-Lié Saint-Pierre de la Vence parish, as is the nearby Saint-Lié de Mohon church. This affiliation emphasizes its role in local spiritual life, although its contemporary architecture distinguishes it from the region's historical religious buildings.
