Clocher (Box B 61): Order of 27 March 1914

Origin and history

Saint-Étienne de Plouezoc'h is a Catholic building located in the municipality of the same name in the Finistère department in Brittany. Built mainly in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, it embodies the religious architecture of this period, with a bell tower partially dated from the sixteenth century, whose upper part and arrow were redone at the end of the seventeenth century. The church itself dates back to the 15th century, although this information is less documented in available sources.

Classified as historical monuments by order of 27 March 1914, this church is notably protected for its bell tower, identified under cadastral reference B 61. The property belongs to the commune of Plouezoc'h, and the building is listed in heritage databases such as Mérimée. Its location, approximately at 1 Route du Nivern, reflects its anchoring in the local landscape.

The bell tower, an emblematic element of the church, illustrates the architectural evolutions between the 16th and 17th centuries. The arrow, rebuilt at the end of the seventeenth century, bears witness to the technical and aesthetic adaptations of the period. This monument, which is part of the Finistère list of historical monuments, contributes to the richness of the Breton religious heritage, while serving as a historical and cultural landmark for the local community.
