Origin and history

The church Saint-Euverte de Villeherviers, located in the Loir-et-Cher department in the Centre-Val de Loire region, is a 13th century religious building. It is distinguished by its typical angeline architecture, marked by ivy vaults, mask caps, and capitals decorated with flat leaves. Its plan includes a nave ending with a flat bedside in the east, preceded to the west by a bell tower, while a square chapel opens onto the third southern span. The high lancet windows and the square choir complete the stylistic features of this period.

The building of the church dates back to the 13th century, as evidenced by its architectural elements consistent with this period. A sacristy was later added in 1880 without significantly altering the original structure. The building was listed in the Historic Monuments by order of 6 January 1926, recognizing its heritage value. Owned by the municipality of Villeherviers, this church reflects the influence of angevin Gothic art in its oriental expressions, while serving as a place of worship and a local historic landmark.

Architectural details, such as curved vaults and flat-leaf hooks, highlight the church's membership in a distinct regional artistic current. Its state of conservation and location, specified as "a priori satisfactory" (note 7/10), make it an accessible and representative monument of the medieval heritage of the region. Available sources, including Monumentum, confirm its importance in the historical landscape of the Loir-et-Cher.
