Origin and history

The Saint-Evre church of Thonnance-les-Moulins is a religious building located in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region. This monument, classified among the Historical Monuments, is distinguished by its murals, which represent scenes of the life of Sainte-Colombe. These frescoes, located on the western side of the wall separating the nave from the sanctuary, were protected by a classification order dated 6 May 1965.

The building belongs to the municipality of Thonnance-les-Moulins, identified by Insee code 52491. Although the precise location is assessed as satisfactory, the exact address remains approximate, centred around the Bressoncourt location. The church, typical of the local religious constructions, reflects the importance of the cultural and artistic heritage of Champagne-Ardenne, now integrated into the Great East.

The murals of the Church of St.Evre constitute a notable artistic and religious testimony. Their classification in 1965 underscores their heritage value, while offering an overview of the artistic and devotional practices of the time. These decorative elements, often linked to the life of the saints, served both as a teaching tool for the faithful and as a sacred decoration, strengthening the central role of the church in community life.
