Origin and history
Saint-Germain de Littry Church is a Catholic religious building in the municipality of Molay-Littry, Normandy. Dating from the 12th century, it bears witness to the medieval architecture of the region. His choir, registered as the Historic Monuments since 1926, is a notable heritage element.
The Molay-Littry resulted from the merger in 1969 of the municipalities of Molay and Littry, where the church is located. This monument, a communal property, illustrates the importance of parish churches in the social and religious organization of the Middle Ages in Lower Normandy. Its partial inscription underscores its historical and architectural value.
Available sources, such as the Monumental Statistique du Calvados d'Arcisse de Caumont (1857), mention its existence and its characteristics. The building, open to the public, remains a place of worship and a preserved local heritage, reflecting the Christian heritage of the region.
