Origin and history
Saint-Germain de Rignac Church is a Catholic church in the Lot department, Occitanie. Built in the 15th century, it is founded by the monks of Beaulieu, which marks its monastic origin. Its architecture reflects late Gothic features, with a unique nave opening onto a pentagonal choir.
The building was listed as historic monuments on June 2, 1976, recognizing its heritage value. The nave is vaulted with warheads penetrating directly into the pillars, while two side chapels form a cruciform plane. These chapels are also vaulted with warheads, resting on lamp-ends.
A bell tower is present north of the building, adding to its architectural character. The church belongs to the commune of Rignac and is located precisely in the Lot department, near Cahors. Its inscription as a historical monument demonstrates its importance in the religious and architectural heritage of the region.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm its status as communal property and its potential openness to the visit. The church is also mentioned in specialized books, such as Stone Archives. The churches of the Middle Ages in the Lot, highlighting its historical and cultural interest.
