Origin and history
Saint-Hilaire Church is a Catholic church located in Frévent, Pas-de-Calais department, Hauts-de-France. Mainly dating from the 16th century, it underwent notable restorations in the 19th century, notably under the direction of architect Louis Normand. Its architecture attracts attention by its massive bell tower-porch, characteristic of some churches in the region.
Classified as historical monuments by order of 5 October 1982, the church Saint-Hilaire is an example of the religious heritage preserved in Nord-Pas-de-Calais. The work of the 19th century allowed to preserve and enhance structural and decorative elements inherited from the 16th and 17th centuries, while adapting the building to the liturgical needs of the time.
The location of the church, at the 4 Chemin des Pierres in Frévent, is documented in heritage databases such as Mérimée. The monument, owned by the commune, is a historical and cultural landmark for the local population, reflecting the importance of parish churches in the social and religious organization of French villages since the Middle Ages.
