Origin and history
The church Saint-Jean-et-Saint-Blaise de Puydaniel, located in the Haute-Garonne department in Occitanie, finds its origins in the fourteenth century. The building, built in brick, has a single nave flanked by six side chapels. This monument underwent major changes after the Wars of Religion in the sixteenth century, reflecting the upheavals of this period.
At the beginning of the seventeenth century, the bell tower was completely rebuilt, while the sacristy was added in 1659. These changes illustrate the architectural evolution and liturgical needs of the time. The interior of the church was entirely painted in the nineteenth century, bringing a decorative touch characteristic of this period, while preserving the medieval and modern structure.
Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 20 October 1971, the church now belongs to the town of Puydaniel. Its architecture thus combines Gothic, Renaissance and modern elements, bearing witness to the different periods that marked its history. The location of the building, at the approximate address of the 9 Impasse des Coteaux, makes it a central point of local heritage.
