Origin and history

Saint Joseph Church is a Catholic church located in Aulnay-sous-Bois, Île-de-France. It was built in 1913 to meet the spiritual needs of the Park district, then expanding with its pavilions and villas. His name could come from the Protectorate Saint Joseph, a charitable institution founded in 1874 by Victorine Le Dieu to help abandoned children. The building was blessed on 22 June 1913 by Monsignor Gibier, then bishop of Versailles.

The architecture of the church is distinguished by a rectangular structure preceded by a two-storey bell tower, topped by an arrow. It is semicircular and has no transept. An innovative technique for the period was used: the ironing, where a metal frame served as a support for bricks and stones. This choice reflects the constructive progress of the early twentieth century.

Inside, four glass windows made by the Chartres Lorin workshops embellish space. Berries 15 and 17 were created between 1934 and 1940 by Charles Lorin, while bays 16 and 18, probably installed in 1942, were attributed to his son François, after Charles' death in 1940. A commemorative plaque pays tribute to the deaths of the First World War. The furniture, renovated in 2015, reflects the continuous maintenance of this place of worship.
