Origin and history

The church Saint-Julien de Pourchères, located in the Ardèche department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, is a religious building whose origins probably date back to the twelfth century. Its Romanesque architecture bears witness to this medieval period, although later modifications may have altered certain elements. The church has benefited from several restoration campaigns, notably thanks to the intervention of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Monuments of the Ardèche, which contributed to its preservation.

In 1982, the church was listed as a historical monument, recognizing its heritage value. Today, it depends on the Catholic parish of Saint Mother Teresa (Land of Privas), created in 2022. This attachment illustrates its current role in local religious life, while perpetuating a multisevere tradition.

The monument, owned by the commune of Pourchères, embodies the architectural and spiritual history of the Ardèche. Its designation as historic monuments in 1982 underlines its importance for the regional heritage. Available sources, such as the Merimée base or the Monumentum platform's observations, confirm its status as a protected building, although its precise location on the maps remains approximate (level 7/10 according to the evaluations).
