Church (Doc. D 208): Order of 27 May 1980
Origin and history
The church of Saint-Loup in Bouy-Luxembourg is a Catholic religious building located in the department of Aube, in the Grand Est region. Built in the 16th century, it embodies the religious architecture of this period, marked by late Gothic influences and renaissance. Its location in the village of Bouy-Luxembourg, near Troyes, reflects the importance of parish churches in the social and spiritual organization of the Champagne countryside.
Classified as historical monuments by order of 27 May 1980, the church Saint-Loup is a testimony of the architectural and religious heritage of the Dawn. At that time, parish churches served as a centre for community life, welcoming not only the offices but also local gatherings. Their preservation, like that of this monument, allows today to study the construction techniques and stylistic evolutions of the region during the Renaissance.
