Origin and history
The church Saint-Loup de Bromeilles is a Catholic building located in the Loiret department, in the commune of Bromeilles, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Built mainly in the 13th century, it has typical architectural features of this period, such as the masonry vaults of the choir and the moulure stone doubles. Columns supporting the double arcs also date from this early period.
In the 19th century, the church underwent major changes, including the partial reconstruction of the bell tower in 1863, after its demolition. The vaults of the nave, made of plaster with bricks, testify to this restoration work. The entire building was classified as historic monuments by order of October 22, 1913, thereby recognizing its heritage value.
The church Saint-Loup illustrates the architectural evolution between the Middle Ages and the modern era, with medieval elements preserved despite subsequent transformations. Today, it remains an emblematic place of religious and historical heritage in the municipality of Bromeilles, managed by the municipality.
