Origin and history
The Saint-Martin church of Boinville-en-Mantois is a parish Catholic church located in the Yvelines department of Île-de-France. It was built in the 14th century, although only its rectangular buttress bell tower, surmounted by a roof in capital, remains of the original building. This bell tower, characteristic of medieval architecture, bears witness to the longevity and transformations of the church over the centuries.
The main façade of the church presents an elevated door accessible by steps, surmounted by a circular bay. The four storeys of the bell tower are divided by cornices, and only the third and fourth floors have curved or groined windows. On the north-west side, ornamental arabesques in the shape of letter A, carved in limestone, add a distinctive decorative touch.
The church was listed as a historic monument by decree of February 17, 1950, thus recognizing its heritage value. It is located at No. 3, Place de l'Église, in the municipality of Boinville-en-Mantois, and belongs to the municipality. Its bell tower, a protected element, illustrates the historical and architectural significance of this place of worship in the region.
