Origin and history
The Church of Saint-Martin de Cunlhat is a Catholic religious building located in the department of Puy-de-Dôme, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Founded in the Romanesque era, it preserves remains of this period, especially in its central nave and capitals. The pillars of the nave, divided into three spans with bottoms, as well as the apse flanked by two apsidioles, illustrate its medieval origin.
The current structure reveals posterior additions, such as a square tower to the north, with a cut-paned staircase and an adjacent rectangular hall. These elements, built at different times, contrast with the Romanesque parts, highlighting the architectural evolution of the building. The church was classified as a historic monument by order of May 2, 1912, recognizing its heritage value.
The building now belongs to the municipality of Cunlhat. Its exact address, 1 Grand-Rue, and its Insee code (63132) confirm its anchoring in the territory of Puy-de-Dôme. Although sources such as Monumentum and Wikipedia mention its potential openness to the visit, no specific details are provided on its current uses (rent, guest rooms, etc.).
