Origin and history
The church of Saint-Martin de Pouillé, located in the commune of the same name in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, is a building probably built in the twelfth century. His bedside was changed in the 13th century, while the vaults of the nave were redone in 1510 by François Boireau. The bell tower, partially restored in the 19th century, is covered with a polygonal arrow in slate, and the span under a bell tower is vaulted with a dome on trunks.
The choir, vaulted in a cradle, is covered with a long-paned roof in slate, while the two spans of the nave are arched with warheads, with a hollow tile roof. The building was listed as a Historic Monument by order of 5 June 1973. Closed since 2017, the church is the subject of a restoration project, as evidenced by a public market launched by the municipality.
The location of the church at approximately 2 Rue de la Marechalerie in Pouillé (code INSEE 86198) is considered fair in terms of accuracy. The building belongs to the commune and is referenced in the Mérimée base under the name "Église Saint-Martin (d. D 576)".
