Origin and history

Saint-Maurice de Reyvroz Church is a Catholic religious building dedicated to Maurice d'Agaune, captain of the Thebéan Legion, martyred in Valais. Located in the diocese of Annecy, it is an emblematic place of worship of Haute-Savoie, marked by its tympanum adorned with the cross of martyr Saint Maurice.

In the Middle Ages, the parish of Reyvroz depended on Armoy, a major parish of the time. She was emancipated in 1610, when François de Sales, bishop of Annecy, appointed the first parish priest, Bernard de Montpion. The present church was rebuilt in 1819 and blessed in 1821, before being enlarged in 1880. In 1927, his frame was redone by Jérémie Falquet.

The building preserves traces of its religious history, especially through its tympanum, a symbol of its patronage by Saint Maurice. Its architecture and transformations reflect the evolution of the local community and its attachment to this place of worship.
