Saint Peter's Church in Antioch: by decree of 20 October 1920
Origin and history
Saint-Pierre-à-Antioche Church is a Catholic religious building located in the commune of Tourmignies, northern department. It bears the name of Saint Peter-à-Antioche, a reference to the Apostle Peter and the city of Antioch, a symbol of early Christian history. This monument, although little documented in the available sources, embodies the local architectural and spiritual heritage.
Classified as historical monuments by decree of 20 October 1920, this church reflects the importance of places of worship in French villages at the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, churches served not only as religious centres, but also as community gathering points, playing a key role in the social and cultural life of the inhabitants. Their preservation, like that of the church of Tourmignies, bears witness to the desire to protect a shared heritage, both architecturally and historically.
