Origin and history

Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens Church is a Catholic church located in the commune of Épagny-Metz-Tessy, Haute-Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is dedicated to Saint Pierre-aux-Liens and belongs to the parish of Saint-Luc between Fier and Mandallaz, attached to the diocese of Annecy. Its architecture is neo-classical, called "sard" style.

The first historical mention of the parish dates back to 1316, with a parish priest named Pierre called as a witness at Annecy-le-Vieux. In 1338, a will of the parish priest Jacques Verelli, originally from Épagny, mentioned a donation to the church in the form of an annual annuity, accompanied by an obligation to pray on his grave. Later, the cure was linked to the priory of Villarsalet, in Maurienne, after papal permission.

In the 19th century, the church became the parish centre for the communes of Épagny, Metz, Tessy and Meythet. It then plays a central role in local religious life, reflecting the ecclesiastical organization of the region under the authority of the diocese of Annecy and the dean of Parmelan.
