Origin and history

The church of Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens, also known as the Church of Saint-Pierre, is a Catholic religious building located in the municipality of Vernou-la-Celle-sur-Seine, Île-de-France. It is precisely at the corner of Grande Rue and Rue de la Plage, in the historic part of La Celle-sur-Seine, now integrated in Vernou-la-Celle-sur-Seine. This building, a communal property, has been listed as historic monuments since 1926.

The inscription of the church as historical monuments was formalized by a decree dated 18 March 1926. This classification covers the entire building, which remains an active place of worship and a local architectural heritage. The commune of Vernou-la-Celle-sur-Seine, in the Seine-et-Marne department, manages and preserves it.

The church is located in an urban setting marked by its history, near the Seine, in a region where religious buildings have often played a central role in community life. Its architecture and location reflect the importance of places of worship in the social and cultural organization of the villages of Île-de-France over the centuries.
