Saint Peter's Church of Longfossé

    Rue de l'Église
    62240 Longfossé

Origin and history

The church Saint-Pierre is a religious building located in Longfossé, in the department of Pas-de-Calais, in the Hauts-de-France region. Unlike most churches, it is not integrated into the heart of the village but is isolated in the middle of the fields, making it a notable architectural and geographical feature. Rural churches such as Longfossé played a central role in the lives of local communities over the centuries.

They served not only as a place of worship, but also as a gathering point for social and religious events. Their positioning, often linked to historical or topographical constraints, reflected the spatial organization of surrounding villages and agricultural lands.
