Origin and history

The church Saint-Pierre de Talcy is a religious building located in the commune of Talcy, in the department of Yonne, in the region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Built in the 16th century, it illustrates the Christian architectural style of this period, marked by the transition between late Gothic and early renaissant influences. Its inscription as historic monuments in 1926 underscores its heritage importance, especially for its 16th century gate, now walled, located in the west wall of the south arm of the transept.

The churches of that time played a central role in the life of Burgundy rural communities. They served not only as a place of worship, but also as a gathering point for social and civic events.
