Origin and history

Saint-Pierre des Noulers Church is a religious building located in the commune of Noulers in Charente-Maritime (New Aquitaine). It dates from the Middle Ages and is distinguished by its original architecture, including its nave system covered with cupolas on pendants, characteristic of the Saintonge style. Its central gate and its blind arcades on the west façade bear witness to its medieval heritage.

Classified as a Historical Monument by decree of 25 April 1946, this church represents a major architectural and religious heritage of the region. The nave, composed of three spans, is surmounted by domes resting on pendants, a constructive technique emblematic of Saintonge Romanesque churches. The facade also retains a bay of lighting in full hanger, typical of this period.

The building belongs to the commune of Nouers and is referenced in the base Mérimée under the code Insee 17266. Although its detailed history remains partially documented, its classification in 1946 underscores its heritage importance.
