Origin and history
Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens Church is a Catholic church located in Loubejac, Dordogne department, New Aquitaine region. It is distinguished by its arched Romanesque choir in cul-de-four, decorated with three narrow Romanesque windows, and its lateral chapels covered with arches. This mixture of architectural elements reflects its periods of construction, stretching from the 13th and 16th centuries, with late Romanesque and Gothic influences.
The bell tower, rebuilt in 1680, was originally designed open on three sides with broken arches, typical of the Gothic style. Today, it forms a vestibule housing a porch richly decorated in broken arch. A spiral staircase, integrated into a round tower, leads to a stand with a stone fireplace, a rare detail in churches. The building was listed as historic monuments on November 29, 1948, recognizing its heritage value.
The church belongs to the municipality of Loubejac and its official address is 103 Le Bourg, 24550 Loubejac. Although the sources mention its potential openness to the visit, no specific details are provided on its current accessibility or contemporary uses (rent, guest rooms). Its hybrid architecture and local history make it an important testimony to the perigordin religious heritage.
