Origin and history

Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens Church is a parish Catholic church located in Boissy-le-Cutté, Essonne department, Île-de-France. It is distinguished by its simple architecture, with a unique nave of two spans and a flat bedside. Its western facade, decorated with three bays and a clock dial, is surmounted by a square bell tower covered with slates. Inside, the painted decoration is remarkable: the frame depicts a starry sky, scenes of Christ's life, St.Michel terrorizing the dragon and the four evangelists, while the walls are also decorated with paintings.

The building houses rich and varied furniture, protected from historical monuments. Among the notable elements are a cross path in glass engravings, statues (including that of Saint James), paintings such as The Annunciation or Christ on the Cross, as well as liturgical objects such as a chalice, an ostensoir and a tabernacle. These elements bear witness to the artistic and religious richness of the church, which remains an active place of worship and a preserved local heritage.

The history of the church dates back to 1581, with the erection of a first chapel dedicated to Saint Michael. In 1860, the municipal council of Boissy-le-Cutté decided to transform it into a church. The work began in 1866 and included the elevation of the walls, the expansion of the sanctuary and the construction of the bell tower. The stained glass windows were laid in 1890, and the painted interior decoration was made in 1891. In 2022, the church was registered with the "Heritage of Regional Interest" label, recognizing its historical and artistic value.
