Saint Peter's Church: by order of 10 August 1932
Origin and history
The church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul de Solre-le-Château is a Catholic religious building located in the northern department of Hauts-de-France. Built in the 15th century in local blue stone, it underwent renovations in the 17th century. Its stained glass windows, dating from 1531, are among the oldest elements preserved in the building.
Classified as historical monuments by order of 10 August 1932, this church illustrates the religious architecture typical of the region. Its location, in the heart of Solre-le-Château, reflects its historical and cultural importance to the local community. The materials used, such as blue stone, are characteristic of the constructions of this period in Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
The 1531 stained glass windows, prior to the main construction, could have come from an older building or been incorporated into later work. Their presence attests to the artistic richness and know-how of the artisans of the time. The church, still in operation, remains a place of worship and a major architectural heritage of the municipality.
